Light Conversations are based on the following quotes from the holy Bible:
“You are the light of the world (Matt 15:14)” “And then He (Jesus) told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone (Mark 16:15)”
These are written accounts of my conversation as it happened – my thoughts, my weaknesses, and how things unfolded. I hope that these conversations will bring inspiration and courage to those who know Him, and to those who don’t know Jesus, that you might consider just how truly wonderful He is.
I will be updating this section regularly; if you would like to receive an email to alert you of new conversations as they are being uploaded, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I was having a wonderful time with my sister who lived in another state from me and we decided to catch a ferry to a beautiful beach side town. We had a wonderful time shopping around the markets we both bought beautiful homewares at bargain prices. I bought a 3-piece set of tables from an antique store they were adorable, I had no idea how I was going to fit these tables in my suitcase but I was determined that they would fit, the legs unscrewed so it was possible. We bought take away coffees and enjoyed a beachside view as we sat waiting for our ferry which was due to arrive to pick us up at any moment. We figured that we would be able to sit and enjoy the spectacular view, rest our arms from carrying our new treasures and enjoy our coffee before our ferry arrived.
As we sat there enjoying the afternoon sun, a lady walked by with a chocolate brown Labrador dog, I didn’t think much of it, until she walked past us again on a path approximately 5 metres away. I felt the Spirit of God clearly say to me, “Depression”, I had a confidence in my heart that it was God speaking to me. I called out to the lady, “Isn’t your dog just adorable”. She replied, “Oh thank you, do you live around here?” “No, I responded, “I’m on a holiday visiting my sister, so I’m guessing that you live around here?” I enquired with a smile on my face. “Yes, I do, just up the pathway,” was the exchange. “Oh wow”, I responded, “how beautiful, you must love living here”. “Oh yes,” she replied. “Have a happy Easter”, I bid her as she walked off. In my heart I was thinking, oh Lord, is this definitely you, did you really say to me that she has depression? Although I already knew the answer, but I wanted to double check as I gathered my courage. I felt the Lord speak clearly into my heart, “Her response will be the same as the guy I had recently spoken to about Jesus and his response to Jesus was one of openness.” I knew I had to do Jesus’s will immediately; I looked at my sister and said, “Jesus wants me to tell her something.” She was completely fine, she was used to me following Jesus’ promptings by now. Then it went through my mind, how about the ferry its due now, I’ll just have to trust Jesus and run back to catch it I thought.
I jogged up the path way, taking a shortcut across the grass, the good thing was the lady’s dog decided to stop by a tree as dogs do. As I jogged up she turned around, with a smile on her face, and an enquiring expression on her face at my presence. I said, “I just jogged up, I’m a Christian, I believe in Jesus,” I could see her face soften before my eyes, I knew that she had was open to Jesus. I continued, “Jesus told me that you have depression, he wants to heal you.” She looked at me with absolute recognition, tears in her eyes and stepped back and said, “Yes I have depression”. I then tenderly looked at her and my heart truly went out to her and I gently said, “I’m Charmaine, what’s your name?” “Tiffany,” she responded. I continued, “I don’t have a lot of time before the ferry comes but can I pray for you that Jesus will bring freedom and healing to you”. She eagerly agreed, I asked, “Can I put my hand on your shoulder?” she nodded with true commitment. I closed my eyes and prayed, “Jesus, Tiffany needs you right now, I pray that you will come by your Spirit and touch her and free her from depression, you hung on a cross and died for everything that we have ever done and rose again from the dead 3 days later so that she can know you personally. Jesus you said, “come to me who are weary and carry heavy burdened, and I will give you rest, (Matthew 11:28)”. Please help Tiffany to lay down all of her burdens, be with her and bless her, amen.” I could see that Jesus had been touching her heart, have you ever believed in Jesus? I asked. “No not really, it’s just that this weekend is the anniversary of my father’s death, he died of cancer and it’s been really hard and I haven’t been looking forward to it,” she responded. I then in a gentle voice I said, “Tiffany, I’ve had people die in my life too, I know how agonizing the grief was for me, God knows you and he knows that this weekend was a painful one and that is why he sent me to let you know that Jesus is the way.” I haven’t got a lot of time to explain Tiffany, but when he came into my life 20 years ago, he washed away all the guilt from the things that I had done wrong. And the lady I was sitting with is my sister she used to have depression for years and was suicidal at times and then she found Jesus and chose to follow him and over time the depression just faded away, she is so happy now and the depression has left her life for years”. I could see on her face that she was deeply interested, so I continued. “My sister goes to a church, there may be one of them around here, you would love it, the music is amazing and when we worship Jesus, you can really feel the presence of God, he fills the room, you’ll be able to meet people who can help you and here is a little pamphlet that tells you all about Jesus and how to ask him into your life, take it home and read it and ask him in, and then your whole world will change”. “Thank you so much for running up to talk to me,” she responded, I could see that she was truly moved by God’s Spirit who was tenderly touching her deep in her heart and bringing healing. I then said, “goodbye we hugged, and I was off walking swiftly back to my sister, and to catch the ferry, my heart was full and overwhelmed at the love and compassion that Jesus had for the lady walking her dog.
2 Corinthians 2:14
But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing.
